What’s new

Time Tracking 2.0

Tracking hours in a spreadsheet, calculating allowances manually, endless emails about overtime: all in the past. With the new time tracking feature, employees log their time via a timer, manual entry, or a QR code at the entrance. You set up how that works per employee and whether someone registers per day or per week.

Overtime, breaks, and allowances are calculated automatically based on the rules you configure, such as collective labour agreement requirements, evening and weekend rates, or time-off-in-lieu arrangements. At the end of a period, you export an overview of what still needs to be paid out.

The feature is ideal for companies that want to track attendance, automate HR calculations, or get a better grip on where hours are going. Want to link time tracking to project invoicing? We recommend integrating with a partner like Simplicate.

Turn on time tracking today via the company settings, or read how to set it up in our help centre.

Hiding (potential) employees

New employees who are already in HoorayHR before their first day but shouldn’t be visible yet? Freelancers or test accounts cluttering up the overview? With the new visibility settings, you have full control, without having to chase it manually every time.

As an admin, you set per employee (or in bulk) whether that person is visible to the rest of the organisation. Employees now also see only colleagues with the status ‘Active’ by default, so pre-boarders don’t show up in the overview too early. Admins always see all employees.

Working with multiple entities? You also decide whether employees from different entities can see each other. Team leads always see their own team members, even when they’re in a different entity. Manage everything from one environment without data getting mixed up.

Faster search and improved tables

The larger your organisation, the more time you spend looking up the right information. You get that time back now. More than 100 tables in HoorayHR have been refreshed: search by name, email address or employee number, filter by team, entity or custom fields, and configure columns exactly how you want them. Your settings are saved so you can pick up right where you left off next session.

What does this mean in practice? An HR manager putting together a monthly report exports exactly the columns she needs. An architecture firm using custom fields for languages and qualifications can immediately see, with two filters, which employees are the right fit for a specific project.

Discover how to set up tables and filters in our help centre.

Extended rights

You want a team lead to manage schedules but not view contracts. Or a coach to have access to personal development without seeing sensitive HR information. That’s now possible.

Assign rights per category: colleagues, employments, contracts, terms of employment, work schedules, notes, and personal development. Each category can be granted independently, so rights match someone’s responsibilities precisely. Less noise, better security, and more confidence in who can see and do what.

Managing user rights itself always remains reserved for full admins.

Read how to set admin rights per category in our help centre.

Other improvements

Single sign-on

Employees log in using their existing Google or Microsoft account. Fewer passwords, quick access, and a more secure environment for the whole organisation. Activate SSO via the company settings and decide for yourself which methods are available. Read how to set up SSO in this help centre article.

Improved calendar

The calendar has been refreshed for better performance, even with large teams. Birthdays, anniversaries, and work locations are now visible per employee, and public holidays are shown directly against the relevant employee so you can see at a glance who does and doesn’t have a day off. Use the filter options to choose which company events you want to see: leave, absence, birthdays, anniversaries, and work locations.

Leave budget blocking

Set per leave type whether employees can submit a request when the available budget runs out. If they do, the request is automatically blocked. Admins and team leads see this as a warning and can still approve the request. This gives you control over leave types like parental leave, where the budget is one-off and doesn’t replenish automatically. Read more about leave in this help centre article.

Upcoming improvements

We’d like to share three important upcoming improvements to keep you in the loop about what’s coming to HoorayHR. These updates are a preview; the final result may differ and we can’t make exact guarantees about timelines. Of course, we’re also working on smaller improvements and new or updated integrations.

Meetings A conversation format for recurring one-on-one meetings, with a preparation phase, summary, and action points as follow-up.

Reviews Makes it possible to prepare and track appraisals in a structured way, including reporting for HR.

Pre-payroll Collects relevant transactions so you can check, approve, and forward them to your payroll administrator.

Want to beta test one of these features? Get in touch via the chat and we’ll make sure you’re among the first to try it.

And then… AI is coming to HoorayHR, and this is big.

This deserves a moment of its own. Because this isn’t just another new feature: this is the start of something that will genuinely change the way you manage HR.

HoorayHR is getting AI functionality! The first step is a meeting bot that automatically transcribes conversations, suggests summaries, and proposes action points. No more note-taking during a performance review, no more “who said what again?” afterwards. The bot connects directly to the new Meetings feature and works for both in-person conversations and Google Meet.

Next up is an AI assistant that lets you ask HoorayHR questions via chat. Imagine typing “who hasn’t had a performance review this quarter?” and getting an instant overview. No report to build, no filters to set, just ask and done.

More details coming soon!

Feedback, questions, or ideas?

We’d love to hear what you think of these updates. Is something missing, do you have an idea, or do you just want to talk through how to get the most out of a feature? Get in touch with our support via the chat or send us an email. And for those who prefer to dive in themselves: our help centre has detailed how-to’s.
